Books

I tried my hand at this whole blogging deal a couple years ago. It was a joint kind of graphics/blog deal. Very outspoken-kate/swimchick-esque. But this around I’m going to forget all the graphics stuff. This time it’s just my thoughts, my feelings, my obsessions, my hates, my life.

So on with it. My life currently consists of obsession. If you, for some odd reason, hate the Twilight saga you can exit this page now. About 3 or 4 days ago, I asked some people for some book recommendations. I was in the mood to read something, oddly enough. I thought school had helped with the deterioration of my desire to read, but I guess not. A lot of them mentioned the book Twilight. I’d heard of it before and wondered why exactly it was so popular and why this Edward Cullen character was so amazing. Well, I and a friend read the first book from about 7pm one night and onto 2am. We were addicted. I woke up the next morning and finished it off. I then moved swiftly to the next one. It was less enjoyable because the character most hold dearest (Edward) was gone for most of it. With each turn of the page a little bit of me hoped he might make some miraculous return, but he didn’t until nearly the end. I’m on Eclipse now, about half way through. I don’t want to finish it, but I do. It’s hard to explain.

Then there’s the movie. Robert Pattinson has a way of getting himself roles in movies that are book adaptations. At first I was skeptical about him playing Edward Cullen, but I think he’ll do well. I think the part of Bella was cast all wrong, though. Kristen Stewart plays her if you were wondering. I think Stephanie Meyer should have gotten a say in the casting. After all, none of these characters would exist if she hadn’t thought them up. But anyways…

I’m also reading a book called My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult if you aren’t into stories about Vampires and Werewolves. I’ve only read 3 chapters in, but I was intrigued by the end of the first chapter. It’s about this unfortunate family whose oldest daughter (Kate) has Leukemia. They pick the perfect embryo for their next daughter (Anna) so that she’d be a match for Kate. Anna was essentially born for the sole purpose of being able to give Kate all her blood, cells, and organs if she so happened to need them. At 13, Anna goes to hire a lawyer to sue her parents for the rights to her own body. I’m not far in but I definately recommend it if you are looking for a good read.

Have you read a really good book? I’m always looking for more so comment and tell me the name, author, and what the book is about (briefly) without giving it all away, of course. I’d be greatful for that.

Well, that’s about it for today’s return to blogging.

“My heart is open and willing, so take it.”“So, In This Hour…” by The Rocket Summer <—- If you don’t know him, then you should.

I hope you come back soon. I’m always hanging around, but more importantly, I’m always hanging over (:
